Rare Georgian 10K gold watch chain necklace measuring 16 1/4 inches in length C.1820.
This handmade 10K gold chain features double links that are 3 mm wide. One end of the chain is finished with a finely detailed hook shaped like a dog's head holding the neck of a duck. The hook measures 40 mm in length and 12 mm in width, and the dog head itself is 19 mm long. The chain is made up of 2 sections connected by a split ring 8 mm diameter. Each section ends with ornate finishes that are 5.5 mm wide. The old fashion dog clip clasp with a swivel ring completes the chain. The clasp's latch opens on a hinge and secures with a knurled threaded nut. The dimensions of the clasp are 21 mm by 7.5 mm.
There are no hallmarks present. Both the chain and all components have been acid tested to confirm they are 10K gold. The total weight of the piece is 19.3 grams.
It is in very good antique condition, consistent with its age. A few links exhibit minor imperfections, but these do not compromise the appearance or security of the chain.
