Rare Shibayama insect sterling locket tassel chain bracelet C.1890.
This exquisite antique bracelet is a true testament to Japanese craftsmanship.
Dating back to circa 1890, it boasts intricate Shibayama work,
a harmonious blend of relief and mother-of-pearl inlay
that originated in Japan during the 18th century.
Originally a watch chain, the bracelet
has been transformed into a stunning piece of jewelry.
The main attraction of it is an oval locket
with Shibayama insects on the front lid.
There is also a nice fox tail tassel,
a dog clip clasp with swivel ting, and a fancy T-bar.
The bracelet comprised of 4-chain main section with repousse slide
and 2 orbs at the ends,
and 3-chain section with triangle repousse ends.
The bracelet is 8 inches long.
The locket is 24 X 17.5 mm 5 mm thick.
The tassel is 31 mm long, 13 mm diameter at the top.
The dog clip clasp is 19 X 7 mm.
The T-bar is 27 mm long.
The slide is 12 mm wide.
There are no hallmarks, tested sterling silver.
Total weight is 26.5 grams.
