Exquisite Georgian riviere necklace, circa 1820. Composed of a continuous row of very dark, richly hued faceted purple paste, each oval gem measuring approx. 11 × 9 mm, mounted in silver bezel with domed closed-back caps.
The necklace measures 15 1/2 inches in length and fastens with its original Georgian hook clasp. The silver tested at 800 standard. Total weight: 27.5 grams.
