Exquisite Shakudo mixed meatal Samurai in 14K gold ring C.1890. The size of the ring is 6 1/2.
The mixed metal Samurai figure wrought with exceptional craftsmanship. It sits on shimmering mother of pearl substrate, mounted in the filigree bezel. The oval face of the ring is 30 X 26 mm. The wide shoulders designed as delicate open work floral motif.
The ring hallmarked 14K. Total weight is 10 grams.
Excellent antique condition commensurate with age. Some wear on silver layer.
Samurai sword smiths started making this type of jewelry after samurai society was disbanded and outlawed with Meiji reform in the late 19th century.
