Extremely rare Victorian Maltese cross pique earring and brooch C.1860.
The earrings and the brooch designed as hand carved versions of Maltese cross adorned with grape vines patterns, crafted with microscopic precision in pique technique with gold and silver inlay in shell.
The articulated earrings are 2-part. The top is a cross with silver shepherd hook, 17 mm X 12 mm. The dangle is 23 mm X 21 mm. Entire earrings are 41 mm high.
The brooch is 45 mm across. It is slightly domed with open work. The elaborate pique grape vine patterns cover all 4 cross sides.
The clasp is C-type with tubular hinge.
The set comes in original jewelry box.
Excellent antique condition commensurate with age.
