A hard to come by glazed ceramic bird bead necklace C.1983 signed by Mary Lou Higgins (1926-2012). She was a North Carolina artist known for her hand-painted ceramic pottery. Her work is often described as whimsical and colorful, and it features a variety of themes, including faces, flowers, and animals. Her pottery is often sold at art auctions.
The necklace is 25 inches around a neck. 8 love bird figurines are from 48 mm to 35 mm long. The whole central station is 4 7/8 inches high with 3 1/4 inches wide semi-circle. All the beads are strung on wire including 11 mm glazed round beads and silver metal and clear glass spacers. The clasp is a hook and eye.
