Romantique French Belle Epoque platinum 14K gold old mine cut diamond negligee necklace C.1900.
This is an archetypical necklace of French Belle Epoque period, with 2 diamond dangles and delicate chain.
The pendant comprised of platinum and gold over platinum back with dainty filigree foliage design top accented with small rose cut diamonds and pearl in the center. 2 sectional dangles of uneven length make this necklace a negligee type. The thin sections are accented with rose cut diamonds. 2 round 10 mm diameter ends sparkle with 4 mm (approx. 0.25 Ct) each old mine cut diamonds surrounded with halo of rose cut diamonds.
The whole necklace is 18 inches around neck. The pendant is 57 mm long 21 mm wide including drops. The drops are 47 mm and 35 mm long.
The necklace tested platinum and 14K gold. The spring ring clasp has a French Bigorne hallmark. There is also the French Bigorne hallmarks on one of the bar links, with insect stamps on one side and 3 stamps on the other side. The other link has a number stamp (see pictures).
