High quality Bohemian garnet necklace and earrings set C. 1890’s.
Since ancient Greece and Rome garnet jewelry was praised as spiritual protector and considered having healing properties.
Presented necklace is standing out with flashing deep red garnets and elaborate craftsmanship. The central station, made of floral garlands, is approx. 4” long and dropping down 2” in the center. The larger garnets in the flowers and top links are rose cut with open backs. The smaller garnet cabochons set in close back leaves.
The necklace’s upper links adorned with table cut open back garnets and garnet cabochons in the center. The links are 5/16” wide.
The necklace is 16 1/2” long with reliable hidden push-in clasp.
Matching earrings are 1 1/4” long with 14K shepherd hook clasp. 2 links dangle under the same shape top.
There are no hallmarks. The necklace and earrings are made of gilded brass. The earrings hooks are tested14K gold.
The necklace weighs 26.7 grams, the earrings – 3.1 grams.
