A fine quality 14K gold intricately engraved open face Swiss ladies watch C.1890. It is a testament to the craftsmanship of Swiss watchmakers in the late 19th century. The watch is small and delicate, with a feminine design
The watch features white porcelain face with Arabic numbers and gold filigree minute and hour hands. The crystal is set in finely engraved guilloche bezel.
The back lid is engraved with fine guilloche pattern background and oval blank monogram cartouche surrounded with 3-D flowers and scrolls. The lid is stamped with a squirrel for Swiss hallmark for 14K and number 7138. There is also illegible seal stamp and capital letter F in script.
The back lead opens revealing matted dust cover with dedicatory inscription on it. The dust cover is stamped METAL 7138.
The Swiss movement is in working condition. We cannot tell if it keeps time. There are a few jewels in the movement. We are not watch experts and suggest it needs to be professionally checked and cleaned.
The winding crown housing has a few stamps as well. One looks like a swan the other two can be viewed on the picture.
The watch is 29 mm diameter, 40 mm long including the crown bail. It weighs 17.7 grams. The dust cover is not made of gold which is common.
Excellent antique condition commensurate with age. The watch comes with an old store’s genuine leather pouch.
