Extremely rare Russian 84 silver niello enamel locket
made by Karl Faberge C.1910.
Fabergé was a renowned Russian jewelry house,
famous for its exquisite craftsmanship and innovative designs.
The house was favored by the Russian Imperial family,
making their pieces highly sought-after.
Niello is an ancient metalworking technique
involving inlaying metal with black alloys.
The locket covered with checkered niello on both sides.
It is 24 mm (just under 1 inch) diameter.
The locket with bail is 27 mm high.
Interior has 2 bezels with one glass intact.
There are a few hallmarks inside:
A maker's mark in Cyrillic КФ which stands for
initials of Karl Faberge (Карл Фаберже) in Russian.
Kokoshnik facing right used in years 1908 to 1926
(Faberge stopped production in 1917, after the Revolution)
A Δ symbol for Moskow to the left of Kokoshnik
and 84 (high-quality silver alloy used in Imperial Russian jewelry)
to the right.
The other side of the locket has 84 stamp as well.
There is also a stamp on the bail
which looks like cut-off 84.
Total weight is 5.9 grams.
Very good antique condition commensurate with age.
