A gorgeous pair of French 18K gold with glittering rose cut diamonds earrings
from late Victorian period C.1890.
The diamonds radiate very bright sparks in bright light.
The lever back earrings are 25 mm (1”) long 8 mm (5/16”) wide.
They are comprised of 10 mm (3/8”) dangles with 5 mm rose cut diamonds
and the tops with 2 smaller diamonds.
The large diamonds measure 5 mm,
approximately calculating to 0.22 carat weight each.
Since the backs or pavilions of rose cut diamonds
are shallow, their visible size is larger than a brilliant cut diamonds
of the same carat weight.
Both large diamonds have a few inclusions estimating SI1-SI2 clarity.
One is clearer than the other.
The color has a very faint rosy hue.
The earrings have very comfortable lever back clasps,
which are stamped with eagle head – the French hallmark for 18K gold.
The bails of the dangles also hallmarked with eagle heads.
Total weight is 3.2 grams.
Excellent antique condition.
