Antique Japanese Shakudō mixed metal cufflinks
dating to the Meiji period, circa 1890.

The cufflinks feature finely detailed figural scenes
executed in traditional Japanese mixed-metal work.
One cufflink depicts a samurai holding a folding fan,
accompanied by his youthful attendant.
The other portrays a woman carrying a child upon her back,
a charming domestic scene often found in Japanese art
of the period.

The figures are rendered in Shakudō mixed metal relief
utilizing gold and silver to create a striking effect
emphasizing the intricate workmanship of the scenes.

Minor wear, tarnish, and surface marks consistent with age
