Very rare 14K gold pearl carved on hardstone cameo portrait of Queen Marie de' Medici (1575 – 1642). 
She was was Queen of France as the second wife of King Henry IV of France,
of the House of Bourbon.

Sometimes similar cameos described as a portrait of Mary Stuart the Queen of Scots
(1542 – 1587). She reined Scotland from 1542 to 1567, then was imprisoned and executed in year of 1578 for alleged high treason.

The cameo is finely crafted depicting with minute details her royal facial features, her crown on curly hair, jewelry, sumptuous lace collar.

The portrait is carved on white layer of a single piece of agate having the brown layer
beveled and mounted in milgrained bezel.
A halo of 43 beautiful natural pearls, all set in milgrained bezels complete the design.

The back of the of the pendant is open revealing flat surface of the stone.
The bail can be retracted on swivel if the cameo used as a brooch
with secure C-clasp of the era.

The pendant is 45 mm (1 3/4”) high 36 mm (1 3/8”) wide.

There is a 14K hallmark on the back of the bezel.
Total weight is 18.2 grams.

Excellent antique condition.
