Rare antique Japanese mixed metal Shakudō earrings
dating to the Meiji period, circa 1890.

These finely crafted earrings feature deeply patinated
Shakudō plaques mounted within ornate bamboo-form
mixed metal frames.

After the Meiji reforms abolished the samurai class
in the late 19th century, many former sword fitting artisans
adapted their sophisticated metalworking techniques
to jewelry and decorative arts.

The earrings depict children in play beneath palm trees
within stylized landscape scenes rendered in traditional
Japanese taste.

The miniature scenes are executed in Shakudō,
silver, copper, and gold mixed metals,
creating striking contrast against the dark patinated ground.

The earrings measure approximately
40 mm (1 5/8") total length.
The dangles measure 28 mm high including the bail,
and 20 mm wide.

The ear wire hooks are 14K gold tested.

Total weight is 13.2 grams.

Excellent antique condition commensurate with age.
