Gorgeous Swiss full hunter case pocket watch with polychrome enamel miniature portrait cameo by Swiss company Jacques Roulet Locle , C.1880.
The portrait on the front lid is a focal point of the whole piece. Beautifully rendered portrait depicts a noble lady with minute details. She wears dark blue hat with green feathers and ribbons, blue earrings and a garment with ermine fur adorned with 2 rose cut diamonds (one is unfortunately missing). The portrait is surrounded with hand engraved very precise patterns accented with cobalt blue enamel.
When the button in the chain loop is pressed the front lid opens revealing the 12-hour white enamel dial with roman numbers and subsidiary second dial at six o’clock. The dial is signed in script letters Jacques Roulet Locle. The back of the top lid stamped 12132, S, ★, 34649.
The back lid has cobalt blue enamel center . It is densely engraved around and enhanced with enamel accents. There are stamps 12132, S, 34649.
The inner cover is intricately engraved along the perimeter. There are also engraved N34649 and Jaques Roulet in script; LOCLE in block letters and owner’s initials M.E.R. The cover has 2 openings for the winding keys. The back of the cover is also stamped with number 34649.
There is the mechanism behind the inner lid. The watch does not run. The pendant is made of gold filled or low carat gold. It measures 2 ¼” long, 1 9/16” diameter.
Enamel on the portrait has normal superficial wear. Some small blue decorations lost enamel. Cobalt blue enamel on the back lid has a few chips.
The watch pendant comes in an antique jewelry box.
