Rare and sought after Georgian 10K gold slide longuard chain necklace C.1820.
The chain is 57 inches long and can be wrapped twice around a neck.
The links are 1.4 mm wide.

These chains were used as guard chains for lorgnettes, watches,
or simply for hanging valuable pendants.

Ornate slide embellished with hand carved ornament on both sides.
The slide is 15 mm long 10 mm wide. It slides freely along the chain.

The chain terminated with intricately carved ornament
and the antique dog clip clasp.
The whole end is 39 mm long with top ornament 20 X 9.5 mm.
A very special old style dog clip clasp has the latch
which turns open on the hinge and locks with the knurled threaded nut.
The clasp is 20 mm long 7 mm wide.

There are no hallmarks, tested 10K gold.
Total weight is 16 grams.

Very good antique condition.
The chain has tendency to twist.
