Rare find, Victorian hand carved natural salmon coral 14K gold necklace and earrings set C.1860.
The main attraction of the necklace is the central piece with hand carved 2 dogs, 2 birds and a deer and 3 carved rose bud dangles. The central piece measures 41 mm wide, 40 mm high including the dangles. The base is 14K gold with necklace rings soldered to it. There is an inscription on the back. The necklace is 18 1/2" long. It is comprised of 4.5 to 4 mm coral beads. The closure is 8 mm diameter 14K gold bolt ring clasp. The necklace is an old conversion from a brooch. The tip of one of the horns of the deer is missing.
Matching dangle earrings with 14K gold ear wires are approx. 1 1/2" long 3/8" wide. The earrings designed as hand carved dogs with 3 carved rose bud dangles underneath. The earrings originally had screw back clasps which were replaced with 14K gold hooks recently.
14K gold tested. Total weight of the set is 32.0 grams.
