Very elegant dangle earrings and pendant set C.1890. Victorian opal garnet jewelry was very popular during the Victorian era. Opals were seen as symbols of hope and good luck, while garnets were seen as symbols of love and passion.
The main attraction of the set is marquise shape opals on the top and faceted almandine garnets in the dangles.
The opals flicker with nice multi color light play. They are mounted in neat sterling crown prongs measuring 13 mm X 7 mm. Faceted vivid color clear almandine garnets are set in crowned sterling dangles 6 mm diameter. The convenient 14K hooks are updates to original screw-back clasps. The earrings are 30 mm long.
The pendant is 37 mm long. with opal link 16 X 7 mm, garnet dangle 8 mm diameter.
There are no hallmarks. Gold tested 14K, sterling tested as well.
