An exquisite Victorian hand-crafted 18K gold and sterling link necklace with natural ruby, sapphire, and garnet gemstones C.1890.
18" long necklace features two types of links. One is 12 X 6.5 mm with gold rings. They bear sapphire cabochons mounted in elaborate gold repousse bezels backed with sliver domes. The others are double sided sterling repousse with gold rings, measuring 8 X 3 mm. The connection rings between the links are also made of gold.
A very special spherical pendant is 26 mm high 22 mm diameter. It features 15.5 mm diameter dark red garnet cabochons at the top and the bottom. 13 mm wide sterling repousse band adorned with alternating ruby and sapphire cabochons mounted in repousse bezels along with gold repousse pellets accents. Gold repousse bail completed the design.
Sterling bolt ring clasp is stamped with illegible hallmark. Total necklace weight is 43.6 grams. 18K gold and sterling tested.
Very good antique condition commensurate with age. A number of stones are chipped or somewhat worn.
