An exceptional hand-chased sterling silver cuff bracelet
decorated with fine Japanese Shibayama insect.
This bracelet represents a remarkable early-20th-century fusion of
East and West — an English-made silver mount enriched with
Japanese Shibayama artistry of the Meiji–Taishō period.
Across the front, delicately rendered insects made of
mother-of-pearl, abalone and agate, their iridescence
and lifelike detail still beautifully preserved today.
The wide cuff is entirely hand chased and hand hammered,
giving the silver a rich, organic texture that complements
the fine work.
The interior bears English sterling hallmarks together with
a “925” purity mark, confirming an English silver mount made
for the export and luxury market and fitted with Japanese
Shibayama decoration.
Good for a wrist 7 1/4 inches circumference
(2 3/8 inches large diameter)
