Rare and highly sought after well-crafted Georgian longuard chain in richly textured 14K gold, circa 1820.
The necklace measures 60 inches in length and can be wrapped three times around the neck. The links are approx. 7.5 mm round, 3.5 mm wide.
The Etruscan Revival filigree clasp is adorned with four natural turquoise cabochons. The clasp measures 20 mm long, 10 mm across.
Total weight: 45.6 grams.
The gold tested 14K, with the clasp tongue stamped 585 (European standard for 14K gold).
The necklace with its clasp is entirely original, with no repairs or replacements.
Excellent antique condition commensurate with age. There are several slightly compressed links, which do not detract from the beauty or value of the chain (see last picture).
